Solutions and Technologies

Osiris, in conjunction with other companies, has provided a range of solutions and technologies to the maritime industry. Some of these we detail in the sections below.

Delivered Maritime Solutions

Fleet Visibility and Cargo Tracking

We pioneered the use of AIS fleet tracking systems to provide real-time insights into the location and status of vessels and cargoes. We used this, inconjuction with non-real-time data sources, to track Piracy Action Groups(PAG) to provide routing advice to vessel owners and operators.

By tracking vessels at load and discharge ports, we were able to provide a more accurate and timely picture of specific cargoes. This ensbales us to generate management reports on cargo imports and exports. We can provide estimates of port utilisation and capacity, down to the berth level. We can also provide estimates of the time required to load and discharge specific cargoes, based on the vessel's capacity and the port's facilities.

In-port Optimisation

Some vessels spend over 40% of their time in port, so monitoring where time is wasted is crucial to effecient vessel operations. We have delivered high technology solutions to help vessel owners and operators generate their Statement of Fact (SOF) directly from the electronic deck logs (eDeckLogs). When we couple digital SOFs, with collaborative tools, we can ensure that accurate laytime calculations can be performed. Doing this eliminates the need to transcribe and retype SOFs delivered in duplicate and on PDF or even paper formats. eSOFs are accurate and do not suffer from inaccuracies introduced by Optical Charact Recognition (OCR) software.

This project was delivered to HarborLab in 2023, who acquired the technical assets, interlectual property (IP) and integrated them into their own software suite.

Chareterparty Management & Compliance

Osiris designed the first generation of a global Chareterparty Management System (CPMS) in 2002. This was a web-based system that allowed vessel owners and operators to manage their charterparties and compliance requirements. This system was used by a number of major shipping companies and brokers, and was the basis for the charterparty management system used by an Oil Major for all of their charter parties. In the tanker market, we set out to ensure that all voyages had a full charterparty agreement and remove the reliance on "as per last done".

We pioneered the use of "accept/except" for dry cargo charterparties. We did this in such a way that the broker was fully engaged at all time, and could producte a final CP agreement for the voyage with minimal effort. We also pioneered the use of "accept/except" for bunker charterparties. We did this in such a way that the broker was fully engaged at all time, and could producte a final CP agreement for the voyage with minimal effort. By allowing the parties to accept terms that they both agreed on, they could negotiate around the terms where there were differences. This allowed for a more flexible and efficient negotiation process.
